It has been too long since I have posted anything and I am extra sad to return with this post. But I must pay tribute to one of the sweetest little creatures ever to have walked the earth.
You took your last breath at 5:45 a.m. on Monday, October 3. We’re not sure what transpired to have you leave us so soon. We were not ready. You are missed but now you are with all your furry little siblings who have gone before.
I remember the first day you came to us. I was in the house and suddenly Bobby (our Boston Terrier) and Emmy (our Maltese) started raising such a ruckus in the living room. I looked out the picture window to see what was the matter. There on the sidewalk in front of the window sat a forlorn, skinny, little Poodle just looking at the two dogs inside. I was afraid if I went out, he would run away from me. But I had to take that chance. I walked outside and spoke softly to you. You walked over to me and rolled over. I was completely smitten. But you were covered in burrs and fleas. Something had to be done. So I took you into the garage and you let me bathe you and cut those burrs out of your hair.
Shortly after that, we began the search for your parents. I just knew someone had to be looking for you. We posted pictures and went to all the vet clinics within several miles. I got very upset at one clinic when the tech sneered and said, “I saw that dog hanging around my neighborhood for a week.” I went ballistic. Needless to say, that vet clinic lost any business from me and mine. But I digress. We notified the Humane Society and Animal Control. After a couple of weeks and no reports or inquiries regarding missing Poodles, you became ours. I think by that time, I probably wouldn’t have given you up even if someone had come looking. 😛
You fit right in from the start. You were always the sweetest and most loving little dog. You will always be in our hearts and in our minds. We look to the day when we can all be reunited in Heaven.
I am so sorry for your loss linda. It is never easy to lose one of our fur-babies.
I have no doubt this precious pup was very grateful for the love you all shared with him (her?). Obviously you all were meant to share part of your life together.
Thank you so much, Tree, for your kind words. How lucky we are when these sweet creatures become a part of our lives. I just read your story of Freckles and it really touched my heart.
i’m so sorry, linda –
Thanks, Beth. There is some consolation in knowing in my heart that we will see our sweet furrbabies again.
Linda I am so sorry I feel your’s and Tom’s pain for the lost of pippin he was a
great companion.
Thanks Brenda. He’s free from any pain now. Love you.
Oh Linda nd Tom I pray pippin will join my harem of pets long gone and have a grand time playing with them.
I’m sure he is, Ellen! Thanks so much. We never forget them; I can’t imagine they would forget us!
I am so sorry.
Thank you so much, Ellen.
Ohhh, Linda — words are so inadequate — but I know that adorable fur-kiddo wrapped her paws tightly and wove herself in your heart! They do it so well! And, when they depart — especially too soon — it leaves such a void. Keeping each of you in thoughts and prayers.
Thank you so much, Becca. Such a true statement. Anyone who has ever owned an animal can relate! Your prayers are much appreciated.
Oh Linda..i have not been blogging since we lost our Forrest…i send my heartfelt sympathy and love to you all…what a sweet pup Pippin was…😢
Dear Bev, I know you understand. I have missed seeing you. I so appreciate your sweet thoughts. Hugs.
what a beautiful post and tribute. I am so sorry Linda!! and what a sweet and poignant video!
Thank you, Hannah. He was such a little card right up till the end. I hope you’re getting settled now. Take care!
slowly slowly!! You take care too my friend!
If it’s any encouragement (won’t be though) we’ve been here nearly a year and we’re still trying to figure it out! HA! But, then, we’re not typical (I hope)! LOL
😀
I am glad that atleast you were kind to the little soul and it had some good days in such a short life.
Thank you so much. He was about 13 when he passed away. We had him for almost that whole time since the vet didn’t think he was quite one year old when we found him. He was such a sweetheart. He holds a permanent place in our hearts.
My heartfelt condolences…a lovely tribute.
Thank you so much, Sally. I appreciate your kind words.
Our deepest sympathies on your loss.
Thank you so much.
Oh Linda, I am so, so very sorry at your loss. Some things are meant to be and Pippin was meant to be part of your life. What wonderful memories you have of your time together. What a cutie! Pippin has left a hole in your heart that will never be filled but how glorious that he chose you to spend his time with here! Sending you hugs, Joanne x 😔
Thank you, Joanne. I truly believe that. He was with us for about 12 years and he was just the sweetest little thing. Lots of good memories to help soothe an aching heart. Hugs to you, too!
So very sorry to read this sad news. My sympathy and hugs across the miles.
Thank you, Sue. It was a heck of a way to get back to blogging but it helps. I hope all is well with you and yours!
Linda, you have me in tears with this tribute to your sweet Pippin. I’m so sorry for your loss! xo
Thank you, Luanne. He is sorely missed but I firmly believe he’s happy and healthy now and playing with all our other furrbabies till we get there! Hugs!
So sorry to hear of Pippin. I love my animals more dearly than humans.
Thank you so much, Badfish. I know what you mean. Like the saying goes, I hope to be as good as my pets think I am!
I now have a hermit crab, I’m not quite sure what he thinks of me.
Give him time… 😉
I only became a pet lover just last year. I had three cats when I was in Greece, and by the end of the year, I had to leave them too. So I can definitely feel you. I’m surprised on how saddened I am by this actually. I don’t know your dog, but I can relate and you’ve been a great blogging friend. My heartiest condolence.
Thank you, dear Rommel. It’s amazing how attached we become to these little animals in such a short time. I’m so sorry you had to leave your kitties behind. These little animals teach us so much about love and compassion. I appreciate your kind words.
My deepest sympathies!
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
I’m sorry for your loss. Our pets are such an integral, everyday part of our lives.
Thanks, Amy. Our pets certainly are an integral, everyday part of our lives! ❤
I’m so sorry to hear you lost your little friend Pippin, Linda. Such a sweetheart! I’m sure the days aren’t easy right now with so many reminders all around you. My thoughts are with you.
Thanks so much, Gail. It’s never easy when these little furrballs depart but thank goodness we have the happy memories!
I am so sorry to read this news, Linda. I can imagine the pain you must feel. He was a beautiful and special dog. I hope that writing about him will help you ease the pain and fill the hole he left. Sending a tight hug.
Thank you, Dear Paula, I do so appreciate your sweet words and your hug! ❤
may he continue wagging brightly
in your compassionate heart’s actions.
Aw, thank you so much. I love that! 🙂
I am so sorry for the loss, dear Linda. I hope that you have many beautiful memories, so that way he´ll be always with you, in different ways, true. But he will… much love. Aquileana
Thank you so much, dear Aquileana. Our hearts and minds are filled with happy memories of this little guy (together with all of our other furrbabies who have gone ahead)! Until we are all reunited hereafter! Love and hugs!
Hi Linda – so sorry to hear about your loss of Pippin – I remember posting the portrait poodle earlier this year and you mentioned he looked like your Pippen! And while it is never easy to lose a pet, I it is harder when it is unexpected!
And great post with fun pictures. I like the three on the couch – ha! The trio chilling out.
Anyhow – sending you condolences and blog hugs
💕❤️woof
Hi Linda – not sure if my other comment made it (delete if it did come in)
But sending conolences and blog hug! I always thought of pippin when at our friend’s house – they had the poodle that I featured in that portrait earlier this year.
Anyhow – it helps me to know that we will see our pets again – oh and sorry this was a surprise – I think that makes it even harder –
Lastly – hard to believe you have been in GA for almost a year now.
Where did the time go??
Hello, my friend. I know you can relate since it hasn’t really been all that long for you either. It’s such a comfort knowing in our hearts that we will be with them again. I can’t believe we’ve been here nearly a year either. Some days it seems like I’m just on vacation; other days, it’s like we’ve been here forever. Go figure! I haven’t been very good at blogging lately. Either I’ve gotten busier or I’ve gotten much more disorganized! LOL! Miss talking to you but happy to know you’re there! Big hugs! 😀 ❤ ❤
Hi. L!
I. Think if Ecclesiastes was written today – the author would say –
To everything there is a season –
A time to build up – tear down
Etc
And then Would add:
A time to blog regularly and a time to blog less!
Ha!
Love that scripture and that song! And the blogging reference would fit perfectly! LOL!
Have a great week L!
❤️️✌🏼️😊
And at least pippin had some time in Georgia!
And had made friends with our neighbor’s Bichon! 😀 ❤
Oh how cool!
And looking forward to seeing our pets again some day!
Some folks talk about the welcome team we will have when we get to heaven – relatives and friends will be there to greet us and so we know our fur babies will be there – with healthy bodies!
That is firmly what I believe and what my faith teaches as Gospel! 😀 ❤
Woo hoo
– and woof!
🐩🐕🐈🐶🐱
Sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to lose a member of the family. Your story of how Pippin came to live with you was sweet.
Thank you so much, Terre, for your visit and kind words. 🙂
Hi Linda. I’m sorry about Pippin. Our pets are so much a part of our lives, and we miss them after they are gone. I still remember our Orangie. He was a big orange kitty and had six toes on each foot. When we got home in the evening, he would come in with us and then get in my lap and put his big paws on my chest and put his face in front of mine and “talk” and tell all about his day. He would do this with each one of us. One day we found him in the back yard all curled up like he was asleep, but he had passed away. I miss his conversations still.
Aw, what a sweetie he was. It is so good to hear from you. For whatever reason, my emails don’t get through to you but bounce back. I miss talking to you. Love and hugs! 😀 ❤ ❤
Today, on https://purrseidon.wordpress.com/2016/11/10/versatile-blogger-award/, I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. There is work to this, so I will understand if you choose not to participate. However, I hope that you do. I nominated you because I think you are all very awesome and you deserve to get recognition. Purrseidon >^.^<
Oh, Jeanne, I am so honored by this. I do hope you’ll not think me ungrateful if I decline at this time. I had decided to make my blog an “Award Free” blog this year because I’ve been having trouble keeping up. I’m very behind in any postings. I do hope you understand and won’t feel slighted. Many hugs to you and all you do for our furry critters. 😀 ❤
We totally understand, but still think you deserved the nomination. >^.^<
Pets are family and the loss is felt as deep as any two legged family member. So sorry for your loss. He was lucky to have found you.
Thank you so much, John. He is definitely missed! 🙂
I am so sorry that I missed this post and so many weeks have passed since you lost your sweet Pippin. Please accept my sympathy and condolences. RIP dearest Pippin. Hugs, Janet
Thank you so much, Janet. I have not been able to spend much time here myself. I hope you and yours and all your little furrbabies are well. Sending wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving! 😀

It’s true you’ve been away for a while but it happens to each of us at some point or another! I’m so happy you have returned and don’t want you to feel like you need to comment on every one of my posts. I do love it but would never expect it from another when I am so often unable to do the same! I’m just happy that you’re back and I’m looking forward to many visits between us! 😀
Yes, we are still feeling the loss of our dear Pippin. Of the three we had together (Bobby, the Boston Terrier; Emmy, the Maltese; and Pippin), he was the last to go. Even with seven kitties left to love and care for, the loss is always felt. Thank you for your kind words, my friend. I know you understand as does anyone who ever loved and lost a pet. Big hugs and wishes for a beautiful week ahead! ❤
Thank you for appreciating my comment on your beloved Pippin and for your understanding 🙂 We share the same feelings,we still have bitter-sweet memories from all the dogs and cats we have lost. They are great companions,it’s impossible to forget the joyful moments we spent with them.Sending you love and loving wishes for a peaceful week ahead, dear friend Linda 🙂 ❤ xxx
