If it weren’t for the rocks in its bed, the stream would have no song.

2016-03-21 Pear Trees_Fotor

Not our yard, but down the road from us. Our neighbor told us that these white trees (which seemed to be everywhere for a short time) were called Ornamental Pear Trees. The white blossoms were so striking. But then after about a week or so, they turned green. She told us that she would never have one because when the blossoms turn, they smell, shall we say, not pleasant! Hmmm, I didn’t smell anything but, hey, I’ll let someone else have them and I’ll just enjoy from a distance! Stinky or not, when they’re in bloom like that, they’re gorgeous! The picture just doesn’t do them justice.

2016-04-11 Dandelion_Fotor

I keep waiting for beautiful blossoms to appear in our yard. So far we’ve had daffodils that were killed off in the last two freezes, and now we have dandelions. There seem to be a few buds appearing in places, though. Sigh… My hubby tells me I’m impatient, that spring is just getting started. But my neighbor has beautiful bright blossoms and I want some, too, so there! 😛 Okay, yes, I do like dandelions but I’m holding out for so much more! LOL

2016-04-02 Bird Nests_Fotor

Imagine our surprise when one day as we were exiting the house, we looked up and, under the eaves on the back porch, we saw birdy condominiums in three sizes. At the time there were no occupants so we were wondering if they would even be used.

2016-04-18 Bird Nests2_Fotor

Imagine how great our surprise was discovering that the largest nest is definitely occupied. Mama is there almost all of the time now. We have no idea how long it takes for any eggs to hatch. We try to be so quiet when we enter or exit but if we make a bit too much noise, she flies a short distance away. But, not to worry, she has always come back. This picture was also taken with my iPhone5 and, as you may know, it does not have an actual zoom lens. The picture was also taken through glass and between blinds. Seems any time I tried to stand out there with my camera, it was more than she would sit still for.

2014-01-05 Floral Clock_Fotor

Taken with my iPhone5 at Leu Gardens in Winter Park, Florida last year. Not the best or clearest photo but I liked that it was a working clock in the ground. But the rest of the week comes from our new hometown! Y’all come back now, ya hear?!

WPC: Dinnertime

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge

This week, share an image inspired by dinnertime — whether you take a photo of food or simply shoot during the evening hours is up to you!

When we lived in Florida, we used to enjoy having an occasional lunch at Mimi’s Cafe located about 10 minutes from our house. Now, the nearest one is 77 miles. Not happenin’!

I usually ordered quiche but, at the time of this picture, I had their Roast Beef Au Jus. It was yummy. But, if there’s one thing I learned, I will never be a food photographer! Let’s just say it tasted better than it looks here!

Now, these guys, on the other hand, don’t care who’s around. They just dig in and help themselves! I think these are white herons or white egrets in Florida. If I’m wrong, please feel free to correct me!

Sunday Selfies Blog Hop #88 and Black and White Sunday: One

Janet, over at The Cat on My Head, hosts the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. Feel free to “hop” in! This is my “biggest” boy, Freckles. He’s trying to sleep off his extra weight. This was taken with my iPhone 5 at our old house , just before painting the patio floor. No cats were painted in the process!

And Paula over at Lost in Translation is asking for “One” in black and white. So, this is Freckles in black and white — well, almost! When I was working on it, for some reason I just couldn’t eliminate all the eye color! Sorry, Paula! Hope it’s “passable” for your challenge!
