Weekly Photo Challenge: Converge

The challenge:  This week, explore the ways lines and shapes can converge in interesting ways through photography. You can take the theme in a literal or an abstract direction, as you see fit — from a photo of a byroad merging into a busy highway to an image of an airport terminal where people from all over the world form hectic, ephemeral communities.

International Day of the Bible

“God’s word out of the Holy Bible is very relevant to each one of us. The teaching of this divinely inspired book will ultimately lead us to Christ and salvation. I believe that people of faith who read and ponder biblical teachings in their lives form the moral underpinning of society.”
–Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

For the seeker:

The Seventeen Points of the True Church

  1. Christ organized the Church (Ephesians 4:11-14)
  2. The true church must bear the name of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:23)
  3. The true church must have a foundation of Apostles and Prophets (Ephesians 2:19-20)
  4. The true church must have the same organization as Christ’s Church (Ephesians 4:11-14)
  5. The true church must claim divine authority (Hebrews 4:4-10)
  6. The true church must have no paid ministry (Acts 20:33-34; John 10:11-13)
  7. The true church must baptize by immersion (Matthew 3:13-16)
  8. The true church must bestow the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands (Acts 8:14-17)
  9. The true church must practice divine healing (Mark 3:14-15)
  10. The true church must teach that God and Jesus are separate and distinct individuals (John 17:11; 20:17)
  11. The true church must teach that God and Jesus have bodies of flesh and bone (Luke 23:36-39; Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 1:1-3)
  12. The officers must be called by God (Hebrews 4:4; Exodus 28:1; 40:13-16)
  13. The true church must claim revelation from God (Amos 3:7)
  14. The true church must be a missionary church (Matthew 28:19-20)
  15. The true church must be a restored church (Acts 3:19-20)
  16. The true church must practice baptism for the dead (1 Corinthians 15:16&29)
  17. “By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthews 7:20)

Weekly Photo Challenge: Minimalist

Jen from The Daily Post says:

An artfully executed minimalist photograph is anything but mundane. It illustrates a moment in time, or an artistic perspective, with simplicity and grace.

Minimalist photography is characterized by a large portion of negative space, a fairly monochromatic color palette with good contrast, and an interesting subject that is able to stand on its own to capture the interest of the viewer. At first thought, it may seem like it would be easy to shoot an engaging minimalist photograph, when indeed it can often be the opposite. A minimalist photo can also effectively tell a story, in spite of its relative simplicity, and it is anything but “plain”.

Weekly Pet Challenge Wk #61

For Michelle’s challenge this week, I’ve got something a little different. I can’t say it’s a pet but it does come fairly often for a late dinner and helps itself to the cat food for the strays. This little critter may not be a cat but it is definitely a stray. I think it’s so cute. It doesn’t try to run away as quickly now when it sees me. I suppose it’s getting a bit used to my voice even if I don’t see it that often. Sorry the pictures are a bit fuzzy. The zoom on the iPhone isn’t the best. It tends to make things a bit grainy. But for some reason this little critter didn’t want me to try to get too close!

I can wait. I don’t mind sharing cause I know there will be plenty. Also, I’m looking for my inside forever home if you want a cuddly kitty.
