It’s Macro Monday at Lens and Pens by Sally. I have seen and been around grasshoppers my whole life but I have to say that until I moved to Florida I never saw them this big (and creepy). Taken with my iPhone5. Some adjustments were made in Snapseed to the first one and Fotor was used for the black and white.

That’s a good capture, Linda. I like the colored one because it shows me the character of the grasshopper. 🙂
Thanks, Imelda! 😀
The Snapseed result looks so excellent. I might try it out some time.
It’s a pretty neat app. You should give it a try. It’s fun playing! 😀
He might be creepy, but he’s beautiful.
It’s true. I’m just used to the little green ones! 😀
WOW!!! Amazng shot!
Thanks, Cindy. I had to get down at such an odd angle. Of course, these days, once down, difficult to get back up! HA! 😀
Yikes! There are times i am glad to live in cold Canada where creatures just cant get this big. 🙂 Your photos are very vivid…and scary!
Not nearly so scary as people scaling rock walls! 😆
All right you have a good point. Scary is all in the eye of the beholder. 🙂
Oh ein schön wünsche dir einen sonnigen Dienstag lieber Gruß Gislinde
Thanks for visiting! Be well, Gislinde. 🙂
Awesome..i do love the macro world we have around us 🙂 great pics 🙂 hugs Bev XX
Thanks, Bev. Not one of your Aussie creatures but we have a few oddballs of our own! 😆 Hugs!
Still awesome! I love bugs and stuff..such a kid me 🙂 hugs Bev xx
Must be why you live in the country and I live in the city! 😀
Hahahhaaha 🙂
Great shot: it almost looks like the grasshopper is asking: ” whaaaat?” Gorgeous! The black and white has a whole different atmosphere, that is fascinating.
Thanks! He was probably asking more than that as I was stumbling around above him trying to get my camera close enough to get a shot! HA! 😀
They may be creepy but your photos are fantastic..
Thanks, Amanda, I’m so glad you enjoy them! 😀
You’ve brought the insect world up close and personal. Really well done. They both have their own appeal. The macro image in monochrome reminds me of those Japanese movies with the invasion of insects. Happy Photo Challenge.
Thanks, Sally. The monochrome certainly does ring of the old sci-fi movies! I hadn’t thought of that (consciously) until you said it! 😀

Excellent photos, Linda! I like the one in color, but the B&W, as Sally said, looks like something from a sci-fi movie.

Thanks, Janet! I grew up on those old sci-fi movies! 😀
OMG! What did you do to your iPhone 🙂
I told it to go find something I can post cause I wasn’t having any luck! 😛 LOL!! 😆
Amazing images, Linda. 🙂
Thanks much, Sylvia! 😀
He is incredible Linda!! wonderful macro!
Thanks, Cybele! Glad you like! 🙂
It’s amazing to see the close up with macro photography Linda, I was surprised by a snail myself lately! Both edits are really great, but I think the snapseed one just tops it for me. 🙂
Thanks, Amanda! I’m so glad you like it! 🙂
One of these days I’m going to figure out how to use the macro thingy. These pictures are outstanding.
Since I don’t have a macro setting on my iPhone, I’ve been thinking about checking out the lenses you can use with an iPhone. But I haven’t gotten around to it yet! Glad you like! 😀
I don’t know that I would have recognized him as a grasshopper–he’s terrifying! (Great shot though!)
I wouldn’t have found him but he was just outside the pool screen enclosure and one of my cats was standing and looking out the screen. I just went to see what was so fascinating and found him! 🙂 I don’t like the grasshoppers here. They may be colorful but they’re big. Give me the little green ones any day! 😀
I love it, Linda. The colour version a bit more 🙂
Thanks, Paula! Me, too! 😀
