It’s Week #39 at Michelle’s Weekly Pet Challenge.
This is Charlie. Where do you go when you want to be outside but it’s just so HOT! This plant (I think it might be a rubber tree — feel free to correct me if you know differently) is Charlie’s favorite hiding/napping spot! He hasn’t heard me sneaking up on him yet! These were taken with my iPhone5.
CAUGHT! I don’t know why I even think I can sneak up on a cat! You know that old adage “Let sleeping dogs lie”? Well, it holds for cats, too!

I envy the cats, they can find a comfortable spot anywhere. 🙂 Look at that dagger eyes Charlie gave you – “You interrupted my nap, Human,” he seems to day.
Isn’t that the truth! I look around here and see cats sleeping all over the place. And Charlie can give me dagger eyes! I’m afraid I don’t feel bad when I wake them up because I can’t count the times they have waked me in the middle of the night or way too early in the morning! 🙄
Ahhh adorable. Your Charlie looks like my Freddie 🙂
I was thinking the same thing except that my Charlie doesn’t have any white markings. Maybe that means they’re just cousins! Either way, they’re both adorable! Heehee! 😀
Maybe I should have done cats asleep in trees today, because Charlie looks like he has found a bed for the night.
He does spend a lot of time in there! Any idea why I can’t “like” or comment on your blog?
I am trying to “streamline” a few things at the moment, but the “like” should be back very soon indeed.
I spy with my little eye . . . .
Giving me the old “evil” eye! 😀
😉
I’d be looking around for Alice or a dressed up bunny… He reminded me of Cheshire cat. ☺
LOL!! I can see that, Koji! Now, that’s funny! 😀
I Love the look on Charlie’s face 😀 Pawkisses for a Happy Withsun Weekend 🙂
He was waiting to see if I was going to come any closer! 😀 Happy weekend!
That is hilarious. Charlie doesn’t look particularly comfortable but seems to work for him. 🙂
If I ever need to find him, that’s become the first place I look now! Certainly doesn’t look very comfy to me! 😀
Charlie looks totally what ev mum hahahha 🙂 always they know the best spots…smart animal..especially those gingerbread kitties 🙂 Whoops there goes another rubber tree plant….loves Bev xx
He’s a smart one, all right! We almost lost him when he was young to urinary blockage but two weeks in hospital and well over $1000 later, he’s king of the roost, er, rubber tree! Most expensive kitty I’ve ever owned! 😛
Lucky boy 🙂 my sister had the same issue with her male Persian who ended up having his boy bits removed..i canlt tell which pet has cost the most ..let me see…Doc had to have his dew claws removed as he kept tearing them, then his knee reconstruction, then a huge op for what we thought was a cancer but ended up being a deeply imbedded grass seed, then three nights in vet emergency with Pancreatitis…Forrest had his snake incident and various renal issues,Dinnermintz had wee issues and heaps of testing and special dietary stuff, our old cat Simba had half his tail amputated after a dog attack, then he was caught in a rabbt trap and nearly lost both front legs I did a blog once on free pets and the real cost..and how if you want a free pet then how will you pay the bills..added up the bills for the pets here over a ten year period..not all mind you and not including food, bedding, toys or worming came to over 17 thousand dollars hahahhaah nearly passed out 🙂 so I say wll done Charlie and keep out of trouble!! ❤ ❤
OMG, Bev! I try to tell people that pets aren’t free. I’m so afraid to add up all that we’ve spent on our animals over the past ten years. You may have us beat, though! We keep saying that we could actually have some money in the bank if we didn’t have the animals. And I’m afraid that is so true. Too much of our meager retirement goes on their care. But what are ya gonna do? I now have mama cat and four babies feeding in my garage. There’s no way I’m bringing in any more animals. Period. But we will have to have mama fixed. I’m having a terrible time trying to find anyone who wants a cat. All the cat rescues (no kill) are full. Tis the season. There really should be tax breaks for us! HA! 😆
I agree Linda 🙂 I weigh up the joy they bring and the money..well it would go somewhere..so what can you do ….poor mama cat…it’s awful isn’t it…all it takes is one cat to be roaming and breeding….people just don’t get it…we don’t even have season here anymore…it’s all year..i was paying the registration for the animals at the council offices the other day and over heard a woman saying her two pure bred stiffies were going to be sold not desexed and she was ‘spewing’ that someone would buy them and breed them..was all I could do not to go berserk at her..they will be bred or used for fighting and her she was concerned…why buy them then…sheesh..the older I get the less I get humans..
Amen, sister! I don’t get people at all anymore. They’re big on complaining about stuff and that’s as far as they’ll go. Heaven forbid they should try to help or even stop contributing to the problems. I’m using generalities here because it’s across the board. I won’t climb up on my soapbox at the moment! You take care, dear friend.
Hahaahaahh best you don’t I am already up there and we may be too much woman for the world together hahaahah 🙂 you take care too sweets :)xx
Love that cat!!! They find the oddest places to “perch!”
They do! It looks so uncomfortable to me but he seems to love it! 🙂
Cats are amazing in finding odd places to hide and sleep-and I am sure he is quite comfortable there too! 🙂
Wish I could do that! HAHAHA! 😀
What an awesome capture! Charlie looks very comfortable. 🙂
Thanks, Jackie! 😀
Adorable pictures, Linda. Cats do sleep in the oddest places, at least you THINK they are asleep. Tee hee. xx Amy
Thanks, Amy! Wanted to tell you how much I love your pink peony photos (my favorite peony) but you had closed comments. I hope all is well and kitty is still on the mend. Hugs!
I needed the majority of my energy and focus for Rusty. Comments will be open again today, Linda. I had actually gotten up at 5:30am to get those shots of my Peonies, which in hindsight, I should have written in the post. For me to get up that early, well, let’s just say I needed to have been inspired. I saw the “light” and I thought YES! and I bounded out of bed, barely able to see, stumbling to get to my coffee (COFFEEEEEEEEE!!!!) and frantically thinking which tripod (yes this time tripod). I actually used 2 tripods. Now you got the “stay tuned for the continuing story” which I SHOULD HAVE put on the post. This Rusty ordeal took everything out of me and then some. OK!!!! Hoping this week is a much quieter week! (((HUGS))) Amy
This is super sweet! I love the special hideaway. Thank you for your lovely entry, Linda 🙂
Thanks so much, Michelle! 🙂
When I saw the first picture, I thought, isn’t Linda lucky with than one ( although a good shot too!) and than I saw the second one…even luckier and again an excellent shot!
Thanks, Johanna! If I had spent anymore time or gotten any closer, he probably would have sighed and moved on! 😀
😀
I don’t like it when it’s scorching hot. It makes me not want to go outside. 😦 If it isn’t summer-y right now, I’d be exploring the California desert. But yeah, I rather nap like that cat. 😀
I only wish the cats would nap like that at night instead of running around at night! HA!
[…] Living With My Ancestors […]
Really love these two photos. The cat looks comfortable up there 🙂
It’s just about his favorite hang-out (when it’s not raining!) 🙂
[…] This is Charlie, Freckles’ brother. He had a bit of a rougher time when he was younger. He suffered from urinary blockage as a young kitten and spent two weeks in the hospital. It was touch and go. Even the vet wasn’t sure he could clear him up. But he’s a little fighter. That was in 2011 and he recovered nicely. We keep him on a special diet and he’s doing great. He always wants to be close but he doesn’t like to be picked up. You can see some more shots of Charlie here. […]
So sweet. I have to post my kitty now.
Thanks for your visit and comment, Jackie! Your ginger is so cute! 😀
