A Lingering Look at Windows – Week #1

I ran across this challenge on Dawn’s The Day After.  Click on the link for her website for information on participating or to check out additional entries.  What I found interesting is that when I went back through my photos taken the last few months, I didn’t realize that I had actually photographed some windows!  How fun!  These three were taken with my iPhone 5 and cleaned up just a bit using the Camera 360 app.  I haven’t gotten out much yet with my new Nikon!

  1. aloha Linda and happy hunting windows in 2014 too. ha. i’ve been fascinated by doors and windows for a long time. often without realizing it. so i too snap windows (and doors/doorways) when i come across them. or. as more recently, i’ve been drawing (mostly on an iPad) and creating haiga (haiku within image as one work) windows. now i see i have another exciting challenge/call to look into (or at least add to the list). . . . cool. and fun.

i can see the fascination with all 3 of these shots. i particularly like the 2nd one—Silver Springs Fla. because of the unusual shape and what it does to our view. way fun on that. fun on in 2014. aloha.

    • Thanks, Rick! Isn’t it just plain fun to discover new “challenges” to pursue. I’m liking your drawings and haiga (that’s a new one for me!). Here’s to enjoying life and new challenges in 2014!

      • exactly. exploration and beyond. way fun. yes, haiku has a lot of “related” form connections (Haiku and Related Forms is a category of it’s own). haiga is one of them. haibun another. each with their own concepts and ways of being. it’s fun to explore them. and then explore what we do within and beyond. . . .

Ah-Ha poetry has some good info/explanations on these forms if you are interested (i apologize if i’ve given you this link in another comment, it seems to be coming up more and more recently when i find people who are unfamiliar with either Modern Haiku or Related forms):

of course eventually we define the form by what we do and our own thinking as well (imo).

i’m delighted you enjoy my work, thank you. yes, enjoy life, explore new challenges and have fun all 2014 long (okay and life long too). aloha.

  2. I particularly like the second one–invites me into the inside and out.

The windows are lovely. I can’t decide whether the first photo or the second one is my favorite.

Beautiful windows Linda! Thanks for sharing. 😀 *hugs*

  5. Welcome to our challenge! These are great but I especially love the last set. I look forward to getting to “know” you in 2014!

Love the first one. Really impressive how phone camera can match fancy cameras. 😀

  7. That’s why I’ve been debating on whether or not to keep my fancy camera or my money! HA!

I can’t believe you’ve only been taking pictures since June. Hey! I have a few questions about your blog and these photo challenges. I need some tips. Could you send me an email?

You certainly found some appropriate shots!
