The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge
This week, share an image inspired by dinnertime — whether you take a photo of food or simply shoot during the evening hours is up to you!
When we lived in Florida, we used to enjoy having an occasional lunch at Mimi’s Cafe located about 10 minutes from our house. Now, the nearest one is 77 miles. Not happenin’!
I usually ordered quiche but, at the time of this picture, I had their Roast Beef Au Jus. It was yummy. But, if there’s one thing I learned, I will never be a food photographer! Let’s just say it tasted better than it looks here!
Now, these guys, on the other hand, don’t care who’s around. They just dig in and help themselves! I think these are white herons or white egrets in Florida. If I’m wrong, please feel free to correct me!
Beautifull
Aw, thanks! Hope you’re having a good week. Love and miss you! 😀
wow- love it!!
Thanks for that! It’s my first restaurant photo!
What a wonderful comparison about dinner time Linda. So cute!
Thanks, Sue!
So, I hope there is some establishment closer than 77 miles from you that you’ll come to enjoy. Cuz a girl needs a break from cooking once in a while. Right?
I must say we’re having bunches of fun finding new replacements! LOL! 😄🍽
Someone here is missing her old area. 🙂 What’s on the side?
Every now and again, Rommel! But I have fallen in love with our new area. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. As for the side dish, I think they were fried onions. They must have just come with it cause I wouldn’t have ordered them. But they were quite good! LOL
Nice selections. This looks delicious.
Serious professional food photography has now become an art form of itself.
Thanks! I think food photography would not be my cuppa tea! Or should I say, cheeseburger! 😉
I don’t know, Linda, I think it’s a really good food photo. But I guess I’m not an expert! Love the egrets/herons, too. I’m especially noticing how two seem to be walking with their legs up in the same position at the same time; it’s a nice action shot. Oh, and hope you find a good place to eat close-by. Our tiny town in the last year has added a “sit-down restaurant” and a drive-through diner, so I hope you find something similar to your liking.
Thanks much, Leigh! I really appreciate that. Ha, you made me really take note of those egrets. Maybe I should call it the “dance of the egrets” rather than “dinner with the egrets!” Gee, I guess you live in a much smaller place than I do! I’m actually surprised at the number of restaurants we have here. But, then, we are in the Blue Ridge Mountains and we get a LOT of tourists in the spring, summer, and fall. I can’t wait to see the fall colors. But I’m not rushing it because then that means I have to go through another winter! LOL 😆
I used to live in that vicinity, Linda, and totally took the leaves and mountains for granted. Now, in flatland USA, I regret not appreciating it more. Enjoy the ‘leaf-peepers’ in the fall! Winters, yeah, not always so fun, but all in all, pretty mild. I only remember a couple ‘big’ snows in my childhood (I was there through about age 16).
Linda – I have not had roast beef au jut since the 90s! So this brought me back and i like your down view of it! Also – the birds dining on the lawn – oh so Florida and is something I never tire of seeing when I visit there – at a red light – look over and see stuff like this —
Anyhow – 77 miles for dining out – wow – 🌹
You sound like me. I hadn’t had it for so long either. That 77 miles is just for Mimi’s Cafe so we won’t be going there. I was surprised to see how many restaurants there are in this little place. But, then, I shouldn’t wonder. This is one of the go-to places for the fall leaves along the Appalachian Trail. We are, after all, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Oh, I have fallen in love with it! I now have a comparison and have come to realize how absolutely scorching Florida really was! 😉
Loved your post. 🙂
The birds are Ibis or in this case …you should look up the scarlet ones. They are gorgeous!!!!
I have wanted to woodcarve some for a long time, especially the scarlet ones.
I went to a woodcarvers show in Fort Myers Florida.
One guy had a big glass of them encased. Wow..he was really good!
I love the birds and plants in Florida. Not so much the rude people. And…I still say Florida was not meant to be inhabited! Geeze, all the mosquitoes!!
Blood suckers. 😉
Thanks so much for your visit and kind words. You made me chuckle with “the rude people” and “Blood suckers!” Oh, dear, such truth. But, at least not everyone there was rude or I couldn’t have stood living there for 22 years! But, I’m glad to be here in the mountains now. I can say that I’m not missing the extraordinary heat and those blood suckers (and the people who were rude)! 😀
Yes, not all of the people are rude..but..some are.
We lived there for 14 years ourselves.
So how do you like Georgia? Are you very far from Atlanta? I don’t think I could live around that area. There are soooo many people!
I agree about the people. But we left behind some fabulous friends that we miss terribly!
I am now loving Georgia. I had what for me is kind of a rough transition. I don’t like cold weather and we moved here in December. But now that spring is here, I’m in love. I don’t ever want to leave! We’re a couple of hours north of Atlanta. I KNOW I don’t ever want to live around that area. It’s crazy traffic and crazy people! LOL!
Those onion straws looks so good. I love to eat those.
So that’s what they’re called! I couldn’t remember! I just called them fried onions! LOL! Thanks! 😀
YUMMY … I agree with Connie T. those onions straws look delicious. My hubby would love that sandwich since he loves beef. I think the photo showcases the food perfectly. Well done ..
Isadora 😎
Thanks so much, Isadora! I really appreciate your compliment (especially since I know what a talent you are)! 😀
So beautyful. ❤ I wish you a lovely day. / Rozie
Thank you, Rozie! 😀
Mimi’s Cafe has such a warm atmosphere and nice deco, dear Linda! There is nothing wrong with your food photo,I do like it, and it’s so brilliantly juxtaposed with the Egret group while it’s dining in the beautiful green field!Love to you dear friend 🙂 ❤ xxx
Thanks, Doda! Well, I did tell the egrets to just go ahead without me! LOL!
