Hi, Paula. It’s actually the angel Moroni from the Book of Mormon in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons). Most temples have a golden “angel Moroni” statue on top. Mormons believe that Moroni was an ancient prophet on the American continent. Moroni was sent as a messenger to Joseph Smith, and directed him to the golden plates from which the Book of Mormon was translated. We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of this Church and it is he that we worship (not the prophets). Has anyone ever offered to give you a Book of Mormon?
