  6. I love the restful rhino!! All great Linda!

    • Thanks, Cybele. At least they were a pair. I’m not a fan of zoos anymore. It just breaks my heart to see these creatures behind fences and walls. Mixed emotions. They’d probably be dead if left on their own.

      • Re: Zoos. I can’t remember the animal behaviorist’s name, but on NPR recently, there was one who talked about his work with animals in zoos (he was originally anti-zoo, but as he studied in college, he saw an opportunity to help zoo animals have more enrichment and less of a cage-minded mentality and, thus, a better life). He made a really compelling argument, and I’m afraid we will “need” more of these such facilities as, for a multiplicity of reasons (different for each animal, habitat, etc.), we might be undergoing what many scientists are calling the “sixth extinction.” I’m not sure if my grandchildren, should I have any, sadly, will have any conception of what an elephant in the wild is, for instance. But I definitely ditto the mixed emotions about zoos. aquariums, and the like (and some places are obviously better for the animals than others are)!

Zoos are my favourite places 🙂 I love the first pic the most 🙂

  10. Love all these, Linda, but I think the first one is my favorite. I’m not sure what kinds of birds those are, but I love how the curve of their necks contrast against the straight lines in the background, like of the fencing and posts, as well as the tree in the foreground. The vibrant background green also grabbed my eye.

  11. Hi Linda, thanks so much for the visit! Love the eagle pic. We have eagles in the Decorah, Iowa area that come back to the same nest each year. There is a wildlife group that watches them and have set up a live video feed. It is awesome to watch the babies grow and then fly off. Amazing beautiful birds! Great photos!
