I Just Dropped In to See What Condition My Condition Was In

Well, it’s finally happening again.

What, you say? I just started exercising again after unnumbered years of nothing. I used to be quite active and at one point even toyed with the idea of opening my own aerobics studio.

Why am I bringing this up now? I suppose it’s because I know me since I’ve gotten older (much). I start out with a bang and then fizzle out. Well, this time I’m hoping that by putting it out there, my blogger friends will not let me get away with the old fizzle! Yep, I’m counting on you guys to keep me motivated and accountable!

You see, I read something a while back that really struck a chord with me.  I got a book from the library titled The Daniel Plan by Pastor Rick Warren.  Some of you may have heard of him.  In this book he talks about how our bodies are a gift from God.  Now, I’ve known that.  But I suppose I never really let it sink in.  It is a GIFT.  And what am I doing with this gift? I have not been eating as well as I could, I definitely have not been exercising. I haven’t actually been abusing it as I don’t smoke or drink alcohol. But I’ve been sitting in front of a computer from sunup to past sundown day in and day out and it’s not healthy. My father lost his health when he was older. The one thing he always said to me was, “Honey, always remember, if you have your health, you have everything.” I must admit that I am one who has been so very blessed in that arena. And I realized that I need to really start showing my appreciation for this gift and start taking care of it.

There are definitely pros and cons to getting older.  We all know the cons of aging. But one of the perks I’ve received is Silver Sneakers with my Medicare. (Yes, I’m that old!) But it’s wonderful. I can now afford a gym membership (FREE). The past couple of weeks I have joined and attended both Curves and the YMCA. And yesterday I attended my first 50 minute Zumba class (which seems to me to be dance aerobics) and I finished it!  But, oh, momma, my muscles are sore! And I’m loving it!

So, now it’s out there. Wish me luck! Here’s a little music that I haven’t been able to get out of my head since I started this. It’s from my youth! Hope you enjoy!

Go go go! (says me who can’t walk a mile without complaining about an ankle pain). The cartoon is so cute (and something to aspire to).

Good luck on your progress. Way to stay healthy. But remember, you don’t have to have some programs to do healthy activities. 😉

Oh my, that’s a way younger Kenny Rodgers that I have ever seen. I can see now I’ll be browsing YouTube the rest of the day 😉

Good luck with the exercises, I started up again as well (after years with none) and I use a personal trainer right now, to keep me in check 😉 It’s great to feel that the body is “coming alive” (read -sore muscles) again!

    • I had forgotten that he was with the First Edition! I know what you mean about the sore muscles. I haven’t had an unsore day since I started! Yay! I’m on the right track! I was introduced to the machines at the Y yesterday. Ouch! If I get moving early enough on Monday, I think I’ll check out a cycling class. Too ambitious? 😕

      • Anne Lene says:

Never to ambitious, but you might walk like you are 105 years old, afterwards 😉

        • HAHAHA! Or like my daddy always used to say, I feel about like a 90-year-old pregnant lady! o_O

        • Anne Lene says:

That’s funny 🙂 there is a saying, “middle age, when you one day act like your 18, and the next day feel like you are 118”

That’s pretty much be me today, after having crawled around on my patio all day yesterday, sanding it down, to prepare it for oil treatment, today…

Now if I could only had blamed it on a wild night out instead 😉

        • Aw, go ahead and blame it on a wild night! I’ll never tell! Man, you must be sore after all that patio prep! Way more ambitious than me! I like that middle age saying. It’s definitely accurate! HA! 😀

        • Anne Lene says:

Yepp, pretty sore, and after all the work today, I’m sure I’ll walk like an old lady tomorrow, if I can even get out of bed 😉 patio is looking good though 🙂

It is never too late to start exercising, I love this post and I am wishing you much luck.. 🙂 Zumba on!!! lol

  12. How’s it going?
Just off to a singing lesson, then swim afterwards, it’s hard to get motivated to swim, wet hair, damp in the cold. I love dance classes best, they don’t feel like exercise they’re so much fun 🙂

    • Thanks for asking! Each day/week it keeps getting better. I can tell a big difference — now that I’m getting feeling back. LOL! I do the weight machines but they’re boring! So, I’m incorporating different classes — Zumba, Tai Chi, etc. I love dancing, always have! I have a pool but it’s not heated and we’re just heading into summer so the water is still really cold. I’m not brave enough for the cold water! But soon! 😉 All the best to you!
